Whilst they have only been going for a short time, Elite Gym and Fitness in Coronation Road have already made a weighty contribution in support of their local community.

The Gym is no stranger to power lifting but when Coventry Refugee and Migrant Centre asked them to provide the power to help save their event the new business had no hesitation in stepping in to take the weight of responsibility for ensuring the event could go ahead.

Music was a key feature of the Refugee Day event and due to a electrical fault the main stage had remained silent until Elite stepped up. The Centre was due to plug into the power supply in Primrose Hill Park to power two radio stations and the main stage where a number of performers from refugee and migrant communities were eagerly waiting to perform. It would have cost over £500 to bring in an emergency generator and taken two hours to get a generator on site so as a last resort organisers agreed to approach local businesses under the Coventry 4 Good banner.

The Gym which offers a range of community based health and fitness services was happy to help and connecting themore
